Group Break FAQ

1. What is a group break?

A group break is when multiple people buy into specific boxes, partial cases, cases, or combined boxes/cases rather than buying the whole product themselves.  The individual purchaser then gets all the cards of the team(s) or player(s) they bought/were assigned.

Max Impact Cards then opens the sealed product on a stream which you can watch live and is also archived on our site/social media pages for you to view at any time.

The specifics of each break are described in the listings for that break.

2. What types of breaks are there?

a. Random Team Break: All slots in the break are sold without a specific team assigned.  At the start of the scheduled break, all the entries are randomized.

For an NFL break, for example, 32 random spots are sold.  At the start of the break, Max Impact Cards, on camera, uses random.org to randomize the order of the 32 NFL teams and then uses random.org to randomize the names of the people who purchased spots.  Those are then combined to match a purchaser with their team.

As a rule, Max Impact Cards randomizes all lists (both purchasers and teams) 8 times.  The results of the 8th randomization are what applies to that break.

b. PYT (Pick Your Team): All slots in the break are sold directly to purchasers at various price points based on the potential value/quantity of cards that TEAM could have in that particular product we are breaking.

For a baseball break, for example, there are 30 spots sold, each corresponding to a major league team.  The Orioles may cost $100 because the product is loaded with rookies and stars that you can possibly come out of the product while the Rockies may cost $15 because they do not have a lot of rookies and stars in that particular product.  There is no randomizing as you purchase the team you want based on their particular price point.

c. PYP (Pick Your Player): All slots in the break are sold directly to purchasers at various price points based on the potential value/quantity of cards that PLAYER could have in that particular product we are breaking.

For a basketball break, for example, there could be 100 spots sold, each corresponding to a listed player.  Stephen Curry could cost $20 and Kyrie Irving could cost $3 depending on how many/how valuable the cards that are possible for that player in the particular product being opened.

3. When do I get my cards I won in a break?

Max Impact Cards ships the cards you drew in the break within 48 hours of the completion of the break.

4. What if I didn’t get any cards in the break?

While rarely occurring, this may happen on higher end products.  For example if we break a case of a product that comes with 10 boxes in a case, 1 pack per box, 3 cards per pack.  That is only 30 cards.  If this is an NFL break, at least 2 teams will not get any cards (32 teams, only 30 cards in break) and possibly more than 2 teams (some teams may get multiple cards, meaning more teams get shutout i.e. get no cards in the product we broke).

EVERYONE GETS SOMETHING!  Max Impact Cards ensures that no one walks away from any break empty handed.  If you get no cards in a break you bought into, Max Impact Cards will ship you something such as a sealed pack (of a random product), card of the team you bought, or other giveaways at the discretion of Max Impact Cards.

5. What happens if all the spots in a break do not fill up before the scheduled break day/time?

Max Impact Cards guarantees that all advertised breaks will occur at the designated day/time.  Any unsold spots will revert to Max Impact Cards.

For example, there are 30 spots in an MLB random team break scheduled for Tuesday at 8pm, but only 25 spots sold when we started that 8pm stream.  Max Impact Cards absorbs the remaining 5 spots.  Max Impact Cards is entered 5 times into the randomizer along with the 25 purchasers.  Max Impact Cards is in the same position as all other purchasers, in that they get the cards that are of players on the teams they were randomly assigned.

For example, there are 30 spots sold in an MLB PYT break scheduled for Tuesday at 8pm, but only 27 team spots were sold when we started that 8pm stream.  The three teams not sold were the Brewers, Marlins, and Angels.  Max Impact Cards absorbs those 3 teams and keeps any of the cards that correspond to those teams.

6. What if a card is from a team that no longer exists in it’s current location?

Teams revert to their historical teams as well.  For example, a new product has a throwback card of Vladimir Guerrero in his Expos uniform.  For break purposes the Expos are considered the Nationals as that is the same franchise historically.  Other examples, out of many, are that the New York Giants (baseball) cards go to the San Francisco Giants or the Brooklyn Dodgers cards go to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

7. What if a card has two or more players from different teams?

This is a common occurrence.  When this happens, Max Impact Cards, on camera at the end of the break will again use random.org, run 8 times, between the teams impacted.  The team that ends up on top of the 8th refresh gets the card*

*If two of the exact same card are pulled in the break, and the players are on different teams, then one copy of the card will go to each team

8. I still have questions

Please reach out to us if you are unsure of how group breaks work BEFORE purchasing a spot and we are happy to answer all of your questions.

Purchasing a spot in a break is NOT REFUNDABLE.

Purchasing a spot in a break is your agreement that you understand the rules of a break and that you may not receive any cards in the break if none from your designated team are found (but, again, Max Impact Cards will send you something!)
